Coalescing is the separation technique used worldwide across different industrial applications. It is basically used to separate two fluids, either liquid-liquid or liquid-gas from one another.

The coalescers are used to remove liquid forms like water/oil from the hydrocarbon fluids and airstreams by combining the dispersed water particles into large sized droplets. They are used for the filtration processes in aviation jet fuel, refineries, and petrochemical plants. Besides being used in separating, coalescers are also used for filtering particulates.

In the Oil and Gas refining industries, Liquid-Gas coalescers are used to separate water and hydrocarbon liquids from natural gas. This is to ensure the quality of natural gas and protect equipment like compressors, gas turbines, pipes, heaters, furnaces and molecular sieves from damage.

There are basically two types of coalescers available. The mechanical coalescers apply filters to make the liquid droplets combine. The electrostatic coalescers, on the other hand, use electric fields for the process.
